July 2010
Hello everybody, welcome to this months newsletter...
First of all apologies to anyone who had difficulties accessing the site recently. Thanks to automated systems not doing as they should our domain name temporararily expired even though it had been paid for! Fortunately our webhost managed sort the problem out quickly but the site was down for 24hrs or so (we didn't find out until late Sunday morning but it was back on-line by mid-evening).
We had a busy time at Glastonbury Festival, handing out Autonopedia cards and general networking, it was hard work handing out around 3000 cards in the hot weather, but hopefully it will go some way towards furthering the project.
Only a couple of new articles have reached production so far this month (among the many in the pipeline!) but seeing as they are rather topical they had to be included asap...
The first should really have gone in sometime ago and that is the article on Home Made Sunscreen. The commercial varieties are full of nasty chemicals and there is evidence to show that they cause more problems than they cure and may even be a cause of skin cancer! Well better late than never and hopefully we haven't seen the last of the sunny weather yet in the UK this year...
The other article which will be very useful is the one on Herbal Insect Repellent again something which the commercial products leave much to be desired...
There have been a number of small updates to pages as part of the ongoing work but these are not generally logged although this may happen sometime in the future when there are more people working on the project.
It seems that getting the forums, classified ads and group pages populated is a bit like getting people on the dance floor at a gig - no-one wants to go for it until there are plenty of other people out there!
As for the classified ads it is getting well worth your while to post ads for your ethical business, events, services or simply your wants and needs. The amount of visitors is steadily increasing and currently reaching nearly hundreds of people every day. By the end of the year this should be well into four figures and as it is free there is nothing to loose, the more ads the more people will check them out. Remember that they are well targetted as well.
If you have a project going that you would like to share then why not start your own group and have your own web pages, blog, or even local classifieds! If you already have a website this is also a useful way to advertise it to other people and get interested in what you do. Please do get involved and make this side of Autonopedia grow!
If any of you would like to be involved with admin or compiling pages this would also be welcome, I am sure that some of you will find this to be an interesting and rewarding pastime that would help to further some much needed positive energy in the world. Please do drop a line using the contact page (log in first) or direct via: email.
Until next time...
The Autonopedia Team
