Reishi

(Ganoderma Lucidum)

Also called: Ling-zhi, ling chih, ling chi mushroom.

Source: Reishi mushroom grows wild on plum trees in Japan; it is commercially cultivated in China, Japan and the United States.

Medicinal Uses: Recommended as an immune stimulant and general tonic; also to treat anxiety, high blood pressure, hepatitis, bronchitis and asthma.

Part used:
Fruiting body.

Forms available:
Capsules, tablets, tinctures, extracts.

Caution:
Though rare, side effects including dry throat, nosebleeds, stomach upset and bloody stools have been reported after three to six months of continuous use.
