First aid for burns

Immediately immerse the affected area in ice-cold water until the burning sensation subsides (at least five minutes).This eases pain and inflammation and will often prevent a blister from forming. If a blister does form, don't puncture it When the blister ruptures naturally, leave the protective skin intact and wash it thoroughly with an antiseptic skin wash made by mixing equal parts echinacea extract and water

Aloe vera burn remedy
Freshly prepared aloe vera gel can speed up the healing of bums and fight the bacteria that cause infection. Vitamin C, vitamin E, and lavender essential oil can also promote skin healing and help to preserve the fresh aloe.
60g (2oz) peeled, sliced aloe leaf I,000mg powdered vitamin C 800 IU vitamin E oil I teaspoon lavender essential oil
Place all the ingredients into a clean blender and blend thoroughly Store the mixture in a clean glass jar in the refrigerator, and apply it several times a day to a burn.This mixture will stay fresh for approximately two months in the refrigerator

Heal burns with calendula
Calendula fights infection, soothes inflammation, and promotes healing. After cooling a bum (see No. 106), apply calendula gel and bandage the affected area lightly. Clean the bum and reapply the gel and a fresh bandage every day until the bum has healed.

Quick aloe burn relief
Grow a small potted aloe vera plant in a sunny kitchen window. For quick bum relief, slice off a small piece of the leaf, slit it open. and apply the inner gel to the burn as needed.

Treating a blister
If you must break a blister (such as when your shoe rubs against one on your foot), puncture it gently with a sterilized needle. Don't peel off the remaining skin.To prevent infection, wash the area with a solution of equal parts echinacea extract and water twice daily until the skin begins to heal. Cover with an adhesive bandage during the day but remove it at night to allow the blister to dry

 

Heal a blister with witch hazel
Soak a cotton ball in witch hazel extract, place on the blister. and cover with an adhesive bandage. Change the cotton every six hours.

Aloe vera blister bandage
Aloe vera has astringent and tissuehealing properties and makes a simple herbal bandage for blisters. Peel a thin slice from a fresh aloe vera leaf and place it directly on to the blister Cover with an adhesive bandage. Change the bandage twice daily until the blister has healed.

Comfrey salve for broken blisters
After a blister breaks, clean it and apply comfrey salve twice daily to help regenerate new skin.
